Restaurant Review - Vreny's

This past Saturday, July 5, for Linda's birthday we visited Vreny's Alpine Grille & Biergarten at 4225 River Green Parkway in Duluth. Another local authentic German/Bavarian restaurant.

The table comes stock with a basket of small pretzels and German mustard to dip them in. We started out with a Swiss Fondue, a couple of diet cokes and a 0.5L Franziskaner Weissbier for me. Mary ordered the same dish she had at Gasthaus a few weeks ago, the Swiss SpƤtzle or pasta. Linda ordered the Kalbs Geschnetzeltes mit Rosti and I had my usual Wienerschnitzel.

The girls really enjoyed their dishes and I was somewhat disappointed. First, the side I had ordered was potato salad and I got spatzle instead - which I do not care for. Our waitress was busy and didn't stop by to ask how our orders were and if all was okay, a major error in service principles in my mind.

Overall this is a good restaurant, although I think I prefer the Gasthaus for service and overall food quality. We did all have a good time and will come back, in September or October for sure - if not sooner.
